MEMBERSHIP RULES OF THE CHATHAM RACQUET CLUB
Play at the Chatham Racquet Club is exclusively for members and paying guests.
MANNERS & ETIQUETTE: The tennis etiquette at the club is the USTA code. To foster a family atmosphere, members and guests are expected to maintain the highest ideals of sportsmanship. Swearing, obscene gestures and racket throwing may cause for suspension from the club, or the member being fined. Members are responsible for the behavior of their guests. Chatham Racquet Club is a non-smoking facility, including e-cigarettes and vaping, please refrain from smoking on the property.
GUESTS. Any member may introduce a guest to the club. Charges and behavior of guests are the responsibility of the member whose guests they are. All guests must sign in at the pro shop and sign a facility use waiver. Guests who are living in Chatham, Effingham, Bryan, Liberty, Long, Bulloch or Beaufort counties, are limited to 5 visits per year. Other guests may be introduced without limitations, provided guest fees are paid. Guest fees are $10 per person per day. While lifetime Members have a guest fee waiver, they are limited to three free guests per visit, per lifetime member. (i.e. a lifetime member's guest waiver only covers guests that they can play with.) Lifetime members are also subject to the 5 visit annual limit. Management will make updates to the club's guest policy when needed, to ensure that members will have a quality playing experience and that the interests of the club are protected. Guests who are participating on club teams are also subject to the guest policies of the club and must pay guest fees EVERY time they use the facility for anything other than playing in a league match.
Management may set guest fees for individuals who participate as a member of a league team sponsored by the club such as SATA Leagues and the Savannah Thursday league. Club members shall receive first priority on any team. Guests will be permitted when teams don't have enough member players.
RESERVATIONS: Court assignments will be made according to the club’s court reservation policy which provides for the following: 1.) reservations will be allocated chronologically. 2.) Private lessons, clinics, league, and school matches have priority over individual reservations, as do events hosted by the club. 3.) In the event that a member/members would like to book more than three courts and it is not for a league MATCH, the reservation will be classified as an event and must be approved by management. Event pricing is determined by number of courts needed and event duration. ALL members hosting events at the club must pay the court rental fees including lifetime and rate freeze members. Management also has the right to block members from reserving courts online, when members misuse the reservation system.
COACHING: The only teaching permitted at the facility is by staff pros and teaching professionals invited by management. Members are prohibited from giving other members lessons, or from organizing and running clinics. The only exception to this rule is when an immediate family member is working with another member of their family. Failure to abide by this rule may result in suspension or expulsion from the club.
SHOES: are to be appropriate for tennis; ONLY real tennis shoes (not running or athletic shoes) are to be worn on the courts.
MEN’S ATTIRE: All men’s shirts are to have sleeves, short or long. Men must wear shirts at all times while playing or watching tennis. Sun bathing is prohibited.
LADY’S ATTIRE: Ladies are to wear appropriate athletic apparel. Belly shirts and sports bras are prohibited.
Club members are responsible for the care and behavior of their children while at the club. Minors under 14 years of age may not be left in the locker room unattended or in the pro shop or on the club premises. Children are prohibited from the locker room without parental supervision.
PETS on the premises must be on a leash at all times.
FEES and DUES: Fees and dues are set by the management and will be at a sufficient level to meet all obligations of the club. Initiation fees may be waived under special circumstances.
LESSON & CLINIC CANCELLATIONS: Members and guests may cancel lessons and clinics for any reason up to 12 hours prior to the lesson/clinic start time. members and guests who fail to cancel on time are required to find a replacement for their scheduled lesson/clinic. Failure to do so will result in the member/guest being charged the full amount of the lesson/clinic.
MEMBERSHIP CANCELLATION: Members who wish to withdraw their membership, must make the request to management in writing. Their membership will be cancelled 30 days after written notice is received.
MEMBERSHIP SUSPENSION: If a member wishes to suspend their membership, they must make the request to management in writing before the next billing period. If a member with a suspended membership uses the facility and does not register in the pro shop as a guest, their membership will automatically be reactivated, and they will be charged accordingly. Allowing members to suspend membership is done as a curtesy by management, and abuse will not be tolerated.
RULES FOR PLAY: we employ a reservation system and advise members to call before coming to play. Reservations may be made up to a week in advance. League rules currently require participating facilities to provide two or three courts per team, depending on the league, per home match, the club will provide additional courts if courts are available.
All members and guests must sign in either in person or via the app before playing.
Club Members assumes all obvious and foreseeable risks that are normally incident to the game.
